Message Review

Positive and negative thoughts on repeat hold transformative power in our lives. Paul reminds us our dueling thoughts can often create a battlefield in our mind. Some thoughts come from God’s truth, while others come from lies. Paul encourages us to take our thoughts captive and make them obedient to Christ because negative thoughts “On Repeat” are negatively impacting everything.

  • What were your initial thoughts or takeaways from the sermon, and why?

  • Statistics have shown 80% of our thoughts are negative and 95% are repetitive. Why do you think our thought patterns are this way and where do they come from?

  • Share a positive thought/thought pattern you’ve experienced. Where did it come from? How did holding those positive thoughts impact your life? Mental/physical health? Relationships?

  • Read 2 Corinthians 10:1-6:

    • What do you notice in this passage?

    • What main point(s) was Paul communicating about our thoughts?

    • In vs 4, Paul talks about demolishing ‘strongholds.’ What do you think he means by that? What are some examples of mental or emotional strongholds people struggle with today?

    • What is Paul’s big idea in vs 5?

  • What negative thoughts are on repeat in your mind?

    • Where do those thoughts come from?

      • How might those thoughts be negatively impacting your life? Your health? Your relationships? Your relationship with God?

    • What would God say about those negative thoughts?

    • What would it look like to hold those thoughts captive and make them obedient to Christ?

  • How can we, as a T-Life Group, help support each other to demolish our negative thoughts and make them obedient to Christ?
