Throughout our 9-week “FruitFULL” series, we’re examining the nine fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:23-24). This week we focused on Love and discovered the fruit of love is the primary proof of following Jesus.

Discussion Questions

  • What were your initial thoughts or takeaways from the sermon, and why?

  • What is “proof” or evidence that someone is actually following Jesus?

  • If you’ve put your faith in Jesus, do you think others would say it’s evident you’re actively following Him? What makes you answer that way?

  • Read Galatians 5:22-25:

    • What main point(s) is Paul communicating in this passage?

    • What is the significance of these nine fruits being called “the fruit of the Spirit” (vs 22)?

    • What does it mean to “keep in step with the Spirit” (vs 25)?  How does that impact the fruit of the Spirit being grown and produced in our lives?

  • Ronnie said, the fruit of the Spirit being produced within us is the proof we’re actually following Jesus.  What does that mean for every person who claims to be a follower of Jesus?

  • In Galatians 5:22, the first fruit listed is love (Agape). 

    • What is the Biblical definition of agape love? 

    • What are some differences between agape love and how we normally and naturally love?

  • Read 1 John 4:7-21:

    • What words and phrases stick out to you in this passage, and why?

    • What main point(s) is John communicating in this passage?

    • Where does agape love come from?

    • How has God proved his agape love for us?

    • Summarize what you think John is saying in vs 20-21.

  • Read 1 Corinthians 13:4-8:

    • What word or phrase listed here is most challenging for you? Why?
