Why do you think our pursuit of happiness often ends up in disappointment?
In Galatians 5:22, the second fruit of the Spirit is joy (Chara).
What is the Biblical definition of joy (chara)?
What are some differences between joy (chara) and happiness?
How do you think the fruit of joy (chara) is grown/produced in our lives?
Read John 15:1-11:
What main point(s) is Jesus communicating in this passage?
Based on that, what is the significance of verse 11?
Ronnie made the point that sin is a “joy blocker”. Why and how does sin block the fruit of joy (chara) from being grown in our lives?
Read King David’s prayer in Psalm 51:
What words and phrases stick out to you in this psalm and why?
What was David doing in this psalm? Why was he doing it? How was he doing it?
What does David’s prayer in vs. 12 reveal about sin, how it impacts our joy, and how joy is produced within us?
Read vs. 16-17 again. What does God desire? What does a heart surrendered to God practically look like?
In regard to sin, how do we surrender to God?
