The son said to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.” – Luke 15:21

Message Recap

Let’s talk about sin baby…let’s talk about you and me. OK but seriously, sin is an uncomfortable word. It’s so uncomfortable that we’ve pretty much abandoned it. We do everything we can do avoid that word. But here’s the real deal. Sin harms our relationship with God and our relationships with other people. So we must talk about it.

Main Point

Recognition of sin paves the way to restoration, not condemnation.

Questions for Reflection

  • When you think about the word sin, what comes to mind?

  • How do you respond to the consequences of having done something wrong?

  • Sin = someone who knows the difference between right and wrong and chooses to do wrong anyway. What does it cost a person to acknowledge he or she is a sinner?

  • During the message, Ronnie said, “Perhaps you are a sinner.” And he challenged us with three questions:

    • Do you resist the idea that you are a sinner? Why or why not?

    • What are the implications of that?

    • What does it tell you about who Jesus is that sinners were attracted to him?

 What’s Your Next Step?

We’d all like to think we’re just someone who makes mistakes, someone who needs correcting sometimes. But deep down inside, you know your problem is deeper than a mistake every once in a while. So what will you do?
