Prayer Prompts

Are you or members of your group nervous praying out loud? Below is a prayer prompt to guide you or your group members while praying. Prayer is a conversation between you and God. Everyone can feel tongue tied or feel like your words are not eloquent. That’s ok. God sees and knows your heart. Practice will make it feel more natural.

  • Lord, I praise you for… (who He is, what He has done in your life, What He has created, read scripture from the Psalms. See above)

  • Lord, please forgive me for my sin or for this sin…. (Talk to Him about what you’re struggling with. He already knows what it is. He wants to hear from you and wants to help you through the struggle.)

  • Lord, I thank you for…… (what has God done in your life or in the lives of people around you. Look at creation and His creativity. Thank Him for what He’s going to do in your life in the future because you know He will take care of you.)

  • Lord, we ask for… (you can ask for protection, healing, provision, wisdom, for a specific situation going on in your life or someone else’s life.)

End the prayer “In Jesus name” Why? Ending our prayers in His name shows it’s more about our heart and attitude. We are aligning ourselves with Jesus’ will. We are praying with faith, humility, and a desire to glorify God. Jesus also instructed His disciples to pray in His name and that shows us how important it is in our Christian Life. John 14:13-14 “You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!”
