As a Coach, it is our job to invest in the Leader we are coaching. If we don’t invest in them, who will? Three main ways that we can invest in people is with our time, talents and treasures. So, read over the descriptions below and use Coaching Plan (link at the bottom) for how you are going to invest in the Leader that you are coaching.

1.     Invest your TIME in the Leader you are coaching

  • By giving your time to the Leader, you are letting them know that you care about and for them.

  • Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Ephesians 5:15-16

  • Some examples of how to invest your time are meeting with the leader you coach for an appointment, calling them on the phone, inviting them to participate in your activities, and praying for them.

  • Ask yourself,

    • “How am I investing my time in the leader I am coaching?”

    • “What rhythm do I have to keep me accountable to invest my time in them?”

2.     Invest your TALENTS in the leader you are coaching

  • God has created us all in unique ways. Think through your strengths and how you can use them in order to invest in the Leader that you are coaching.

  • As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace. 1 Peter 4:10

  • In order to invest your talents, think through your talents and strengths. Some examples of how to invest your talents are to help the leader you are coaching think through new ideas if your talents fall in strategic thinking or helping the leader you are coaching get going if you have the talent of activating.

  • Ask yourself,

    • “What talents do I have that the leader that I am coaching could benefit from?”

    • “How am I investing my talents in the leader I am coaching?”

    • “How could I better invest in the leader I am coaching with the talents that God has given me?”

3.     Invest your TREASURES in the Leader you are coaching

  • God has given us all resources. We typically think of our resources as ours. But, God has given us resources so we can love others.

  • Hospitality is one of the best ways to practically love someone.

  • For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:21

  • To invest your treasures, you have to give the things that you value most. For most of us this would be our finances or possessions. Some examples of this would be to watch your Leader’s kids while they go out on a date with their spouse or to pay for their kid to go to camp this summer. This is especially the case when you hear that they aren't going to do something because of cost.

  • Ask yourself,

    • “What resources do I have that I can use to invest in the leader that I am coaching?”

    • “How am I currently investing my treasures in the leader I am coaching?”

    • “How could I better invest the resources that I have in the leader I am coaching?”
