About the Group

Being a caregiver for loved ones can sometimes be overwhelming. If you are looking to refresh and recharge with a much needed break, join our caregivers group where we will journey together for spiritual support and connection. Our caregivers group will meet weekly at Fala's Treasures and Coffee House in Elkhorn on Saturday mornings from 9:30 to 11:00am.

About the Leader

I am a wife to my husband, Mike, and also his caregiver. My husband suffered his first debilitating stroke in 2016, where we both had to adjust to a new normal in our lives. This new way of life took some time to try and figure out and we are still working out the kinks. My son and two children, my granddaughters, also live with us. My father was a pastor. I grew up going to church so life with Jesus has always been a part of me. During our marriage I had taken on Caregiver roles for a neighbor, an elderly couple and both my parents before they passed away. I believe God was readying me then for a journey that would at times bring me to my knees more often than I ever had been before in my life. In 2016 my husband had his first stroke. I became emotionally lost for awhile. During this time I felt my heart ache more for God, but yet found myself struggling. I began searching for who and where I needed to be. I felt God calling me, but for what? I began my studies and became an ordained minister. But still my heart was longing. God was transitioning me to who I needed to be. I became so aware of the needs for those who take on the role of "Caregiver" and the emotional Rollercoaster it can lead you on. God gave me my passion of giving hope to those who felt hopeless in the caregiver role. We began attending Relevant in 2019. Relevant has become a home and a wonderful extension of family and friends where building your relationship with God is truly a priority.

What happens next if I join the group?

Once you register for the group (by clicking the “Join Group” button below), you will receive a confirmation email letting you know that we received your registration. In the next couple of days, your new group leader will reach out with some preliminary details about the location, time, and first group meeting.

At the first group meeting you’ll get to know others in your group and hear more about what to expect moving forward. If you decide the group is a good fit for you, great! If not, you can discretely let the group leader know and we’ll help you find a different group.

After a few months of being in the group you’ll have the opportunity to reevaluate if the group is a good fit for you and either continue with the group or step out of the group if desired. So by joining a group, you’re not making a long-term commitment.

If you have any questions, email us at groups@relevantcommunity.org.
