Job Overview

Position Summary

The Connecting Director directs and leads Relevant’s “Connecting Department”, which exists to connect people into community and into engagement within the Relevant church body. The Connecting Department includes two ministries: the T-Life Groups Ministry and the Next Steps Engagement Ministry. The T-Life Groups Ministry oversees Relevant’s “small groups” and is one of Relevant’s most important ministries. The Next Steps Engagement Ministry exists to engage people who are new to Relevant in four key next steps (Relevant 101, Serving on a Team, T-Life Groups, and Giving) within their first 6 months.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Infuse Relevant’s mission, vision, direction, and culture into the Connecting Department.

  • Define and direct the strategic vision for the Connecting Department, projecting 2-3 years ahead.

  • Direct and manage the purpose, strategy, budget, culture, health, and overall success of the Connecting Department.

  • Ensure the success and effectiveness of Ministries within the Connecting Department.

  • Oversee volunteer engagement, equipping, effectiveness, health, and culture throughout the Connecting Department.

  • Lead an expanding network of healthy and transformational smaller communities (T-Life Groups).

    • Lead and manage systems/events that successfully engage people into T-Life Groups.

    • Raise up, develop, and thoroughly equip volunteer group leaders and group leader coaches.

    • Consistently communicate with, inspire, and encourage T-Life Group leaders.

    • Create and distribute resources and curriculum for T-Life Group leaders.

  • Lead systems to successfully engage guests into the Relevant body.

    • Ensure accurate collection of new guest contact information

    • Track engagement progress of new guests

    • Oversee weekly communication with new guests

  • Oversee the Next Steps Area and its volunteer team at Sunday Gatherings, which provides an in-person place for people to ask questions and get help taking next steps.

  • Serve as a member of RCC’s Leadership Team, which exists to collaboratively create, own, drive, and actively embed the church’s mission, vision, direction, and strategy throughout the organization. 

Qualifications

  • A whole-hearted commitment to live out the qualifications of a Deacon as outlined in 1 Tim. 3:8-13.

  • Doctrinal Unity: Aligned with RCC’s Statement of Faith.

  • Philosophical Unity: Aligned with RCC’s mission, vision, values, and strategy.

  • Proven to be an influential Kingdom leader.

  • Gifted in leadership.

Skills/Strengths Needed

  • Content Creator: Ability to create and write small group discussion questions, leader equipping resources and communication, small group curriculum, etc.

  • Organization/Administration: Is organized and efficient with handling administrative and organizational details.

  • Relational: Is good with people and enjoys connecting with a variety of people.

  • Clear Communicator: Inspirational, empowering, and clear communicator—both written and verbal.

  • Equipper of People: Can equip individuals AND large groups of people to lead well.

  • Strategic: Can build efficient and effective strategies and systems needed to lead hundreds of groups/people through other leaders, networks, and coaches.

  • Shepherd: Has the ability to guide not just individuals but a flock; oversee the most important spiritual leaders in our church, and all of the "smaller communities" of Relevant.
