Praying with someone to put faith in Jesus

 

How do you pray with someone to put their faith in Jesus?

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” Romans 10:9-10.

A person puts their faith in Jesus by asking Him to be the Forgiver of their sins and Leader of their life. You can help someone put their faith in Jesus by leading them to Confess, Declare, and Ask…

  • CONFESS their need for a savior because of their violation against Holy Creator God.

  • DECLARE their trust in Jesus alone as the Savior because of His death and resurrection.

  • ASK Jesus to be the Forgiver of their sins (their savior) and the Leader of their life (their Lord).

Example Prayer

If you are helping someone put their faith in Jesus, you can lead them through praying something similar to the following prayer…

Jesus, I CONFESS that my violation of sin against God broke my relationship with Him; the relationship He created me for.  I DECLARE my trust in Jesus alone as my Savior because of His death on the cross in my place for the forgiveness of sin, and because of His resurrection from the grave.  Jesus, I put my faith in you and ASK you to be the Forgiver of my sins (my Savior) and Leader of my life (my Lord) from this day forward.  Amen.
