One Anothering One Another
October 07 - 13  •  Week 5: Serve One Another

Introduction

This week in our “One-Anothering One Another” series, we are challenged to experience and express the love of God for others through Serving One Another. Jesus set the example of a life of sacrifice and service and he called, commanded and commissioned the us to serve each other, this world, and His Kingdom. But it will require sacrifice. Through intentionally utilizing our God-given skills and talents, we are all uniquely equipped to serve God through serving one another.

Main Point

Serving one another requires you and me to sacrifice for we.

Discussion Questions

  1. As you consider the concept and idea of “Serving One Another,” what are some practical things that come to mind?

  2. Share a time where someone served you or someone close to you. In what ways do these actions represent God and His love?

  3. Read Romans 12:1-2 together. When finished, break down these verses into their parts and discuss the full implications of this passage. How and why are we to live out these scriptures?

  4. On Sunday Jimmy said, “If you are good at something, you may have been given that gift to glorify God by serving others with it.” Share and encourage one another regarding particular talents you see in each other and discuss how those could be used to glorify God.

  5. Pastor Jimmy challenged us with the question, “Is my life marked by serving?” How would you answer that question and what are you going to do to take a next step?

  6. What is a practical thing you can do this week to serve someone else?

  7. What are ways this group can begin serving one another better?

Next Step Challenge

As you go about your week, intentionally seek opportunities to serve your neighbors, workplaces, and those in this church. It’s required by everyone who is a follower of Jesus. It is our spiritual act of worship. It’s how we “one-another one another.”

Key Verse

“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” – 1 John 3:16, 18
